We are so happy to announce our new, all-in-one blogsite! Navigation has never been so easy and the site is so clean. Its our hope that the new look of Autumn Song will highlight the best that life has to offer--the little miracles we experience every day. T he good thing is... we've been very busy the last couple of weeks. The bad thing...I've really gotten behind on my blog. I don't like being behind on anything. If we've had a session lately and you haven't seen it posted please be patient , I'm getting there!
We recently had a session at Tanglewood Park in Clemmons. I'm surprised at how many people have never really visited Tanglewood. It's a beautiful little place to spend an afternoon with the family. Lots of stuff for the kids, walking trails, fishing, horseback riding, and swimming in the summer. We enjoy doing some of our photography at Tanglewood simply because of the different options provided there. Here are a few photos from a family session a few weeks ago. Madelyn is a very sweet and beautiful little blond-haired, blue eyed toddler. She was a little shy at first but as time passed we became friends. |

I love the wedding season! It's so exciting ... to be a part of a couple's lives at such a happy time. This past weekend was our first spring wedding of the season and what a fantastic way to start it off!
I meet with Sophal and James when they came down from Charlottesville. We just clicked ... right away. Do you know what I mean? Sometimes you meet people and right away you are comfortable, they are comfortable and the conversation just rolls. Well, that's the way it was with Sophal and James. They have a fun story about how they met. Those of you who know them know their story. I'll tell you this much, they met at the beach, Sophal with a group of girls, James with a group of guys ...
Karen and I met with the two of them again in March. I think we could have spent the whole day together just sharing and laughing. They are such a wonderful couple. We offered to travel with them on their honeymoon (separate quarters, of course) to document their trip to Greece and Italy. They just laughed ... Karen was serious.
The ceremony was at a Centenary Church in downtown Winston and their reception at Graylyn Estates. Lindsey and I enjoyed capturing their story for them and here are a few of our favorites.

S he hardly ever cries ... maybe if she's hungry or wet ... in fact, all you have to do is look at her and she smiles all over herself. If you laugh, she laughs; she is one of the happiest babies I've ever seen. She's only four months old and already makes my heart skip. It's a wonderful thing to be loved, but to give love unconditionally is the best of all! |
I was twenty seven years old, I thought I was a man but, looking back, I was still just a boy in many ways. It was my first day on a new job and I was sizing everybody up trying to gain insight as to who they were without asking too many questions. The job was a tough job, very physical and all outdoors. As my eyes scanned the workers I noticed they all had things in common; they were sweaty, they were dirty, and they didn't seem to be in a particularly good mood. Then I noticed this man standing at the end of a bench wearing jeans and a white t-shirt. He was as clean as a pin, shirt tail tucked neatly in, belt buckle cinched up just right and directly over the zipper. He had a warm smile and seemed to be a lot older than he actually was ... he was mature beyond his years.
Over the years I've gotten to know Mike well and the longer I know him the more respect I have for him. He can do anything, build anything. Honestly, if I ever need a heart transplant I'll see if Mike can make me a heart out of wood ... I'm sure he could make it work!! With all of his talent the thing I like most about him is his heart. He taught me an awful lot about how to work with my hands and to "get on my work and not get my work on me". The greatest lesson I learned from Mike was to love people and use things rather than use people and love things.
I had the privilege to photograph my friend's granddaughter, Elizabeth, the other day... it was special! |
